doily
i used to make doilies all the time. but haven't in years. so i thought i might make a few. they are fun to make but require more concentration...since i use patterns. maybe i'll make up my own doily patterns too sometime.
so last night after mikey went to bed, i made this sweet little doily. it is a small one, only 5 inches across.. but very sweet and dainty.

recent snail mail.
got some really pretty things last week and this week. from ebay and etsy.
really pretty vintage buttons. those turquoise pinwheel ones are some of the prettiest i have.
more pretty buttons in bright candy colors. the red ones are big and really beautiful.
vintage hat with millinery flowers and netting. the forget me nots are separate but they look really pretty together..
close up.
vintage hankie holder with handmade silk bells. not sure what these were originally. christmas ornaments? wedding favors?.. dunno. but they are silk and hand embroidered.. so pretty!
see how pretty they are?
vintage hankie holder with hand painting and rosebud applique.
pretty details.
vintage hankie that was inside.
little extra stuff the seller left inside the box. ribbons and a little felt purse with sequins and a little silk pouch. the previous owner must have been sentimental like me!
so there you have it.. lots of pretties! no thrift store finds to show this week...hubby wasn't feeling to well after his root canal. maybe next week.

reading
i took a long break from reading.. but yesterday i felt like reading something.. so instead of reading my alcott books i decided to read this Nickolas Sparks book my sister sent me recently. a walk to remember.. i loved that movie and the book is turning out to be really good too. i should be done by tomorrow.. and i just started yesterday! thanks for sending it amy!
birthday gift and swap from my sister
my sweet sister sent me a very fun envelope of goodies this week. including our january swap.. the theme was owls, birds, trees and houses which turned out to be a difficult one! sorry amy! but she managed to find fabrics wth all of them and a really cute little bird puch and some cute stickers!
she also sent mikey some washcloths.. made from flannel and minkie. and the best this was the patchwork scarf she made for my birthday! i've been wanting one for awhile and she used alot of of pink and flowers..which i love. and she even used some super sft mikie for the back and green mikie patches too.
i love it amy thank you for making it for me and for the swap! you did great! hope you liked yours too!
annoyed...
with the fact that my mary engelbreit magazine has been canceled! they say they will send me martha stewart living instead.. but i don't want that... so i canceled my subscription.. i guess maybe i'll resubscribe to haute doll or something instead.
