valentine box make-over

i did this at 6:00 am today. this is the smaller box of chocolates i got. i covered it with rose printed wraping paper that my hubby gave me some years ago. then i added victorian reproduction scrap, also that my hubby gave me.. i guess he knows what i like! makes the box more shabby style.. it was just a plain red box. so pretty! now i can fill it with buttons or beads.. once the candy is gone!

the day after the madness!

me hubby and i agreed some years ago.. that it was better to buy valentine chocolates..the day after the madness of valentine shopping. for one, there aren't a bunch of crazy men, who forgot valentine's day grabbing everything in site! also no LONG lines! and since my fav chocolates are from fannie may (pricey) you can also get them for half price the day after valentine's day! so yesterday my hubby gave me this yummy box of my fav chocolates! and the box is covered in beautiful rose printed fabric! he also gave me a smaller box which i gave a makeover to this morning.. which i will show you next.

antique mall finds!

we went to the antique mall on saturday since the weather wasn't horrible. found a few nice things...



this is vintage strawberry shortcake friend almond tea. i have the fancier party pleaser version who has her hat still attached.. but somehow i never had found this one. so i was happy to find her.. and just $5.00!

reading.

i have been reading quite a bit lately... i read stern men by elizabeth gilbert, the lovely bones and am now reading committed by elizabeth gilbert.
stern men was actually more interesting that i thought it would be. the lovely bones is really good but creeepy! and the committed is really entertaining and fun.
so if you need something new.. try any of these! and i am always open to reading suggestions!

my newest buttons.

we went to a couple antique stores yesterday.. so i will have a few things to show you tomorrow. but for now i'd like to show you the newest buttons i've gotten. sorted out from a huge lot from ebay here are the keepers.




these are the glass and china ones. several mourning buttons and diminutive ones too. a few pie crust and other china from the civil war era.

these are the plastic and mother of pearl ones. beautiful colors and shapes!

mikey!

mikey is doing pretty good. he is still having school at home. he is very tidy about some things. he'll put things back where they belong if he finds them.. but at the same time he loves to dump out his toys!
yesterday my neighbor brough her little adorable puppy over and mikey loved him! he played with him and got a little mad when the puppy had to go! will take pics next time. his new tooth is growing in and he has another loose one now too!
he got this crown made by littleredcaboose on etsy. it's wool felt. so cute! elastic around the back so it can stretch. this was his valentine gift from me. hoping to get him a heluim baloon too since he loves those!
