thrift store finds

books for mikey. i remember the "a chair for mother" book from reading rainbow. also one that is in french. i can't read french but i thought it was interesting to find and cute pictures.

a 1980's activity book with illustrations very similar to strawberry shortcake. and a really cute pvc cat figure. i have a hard time resisting 1980's things.

and books for me.

a bit of sewing

i had to get up at 5:30 today since my silly boy didn't feel like sleeping anymore...so i finally did some sewing.

first i made a pillowcase from the fabric i showed you last week. i am going to try to crochet on the edge..but first i'm going to look for a tutorial.

then i set my sights on this victim...a vintage sweater i had for sale on etsy..but it never sold. i liked the pattern so chop! then i decided i liked the reverse pattern even better. both are a bit wonky but at least i finally used my sewing machine. i need to work on some crocheted bear hats this weekend but after that i have some more sewing projects in mind.

zulily...to buy or not to buy?

i recently started shopping on zulily and honestly i cannot decide if i love it or hate it. one thing is for sure. they are super slow with shipping.

 the first order i got was a t-shirt for my son. that was great and he loves it. next time it was partially my fault with a sizing mix-up. but who ever heard of size large being size 7 for little boys?

next was a dress for myself. that is pretty cute though i'm thinking of using it for a nightgown or swimsuit cover-u instead.

next came some bags that were pretty cute and a notebook.

after that some cute boots for my little guy that were fine with sizing and cute too.

after that was another bad one with a pair of pants supposedly size 10 for my little guy and they arrive and are so tiny like size 6! so i guess they'll be shorts since the waist was BIG.

so today i ordered 3 shirts for my little guy again...but this time sizing should be ok and i also got him a new book since it's been years since he has gotten a new one.

moral of my story.. be careful with zulily, the temptation is great...but sizes are crazy and expect to wait 3 or more weeks to get your stuff! oh and another tidbit NO RETURNS!

so i finished my project! first used watercolor paints to paint various patterns on watercolor paper. then i punch tags with the paper and used a star shaped punch for the holes and now i have entirely handmade tags..well i guess i could have made paper too but...
