pictures from the past

i got these at the thrift last week. i love old photos. i love the clothes, hair styles and they just are very interesting to me. it amazes me that the first photographs were taken in 1839! these are not that old.. but still very interesting and beautiful.

mikey update

mikey is doing well. not so many tantrums lately. he is getting to be a big boy. he gave up his pacifier a week ago and doesn't need his afghans to go to sleep anymore. he is learning so many things. he can now open doors without much trouble. he helps put things away and picks things up and give them back to you when you drop them. this morning when his daddy left for work he got mad and dragged him back into the house!
he can brush his teeth pretty well on his own and can put on his own shirt, socks and pants.
he has been practicing making different sounds with his mouth lately.. which i hope is a good step toward talking.
he is eating with his spoon more often now.. though he still uses his fingers sometimes. his favorite things to eat lately are celery, carrots, pancakes (no syrup!), candy corn, rice milk chocolate, chocolate cake with white frosting and sprinkles, barbecue manwich, fried potatoes, chorizo and eggs, raisin, figs, prunes, dried cranberries, salami,... that's all i can think of.. but he has a BIG appetite lately.
and he went to the doctor for a well visit and his is 45 pounds.. but he feels heavier to me!

my new book..

this wonderful book has been on my wishlist for quite sometime. i love antique photography.. so i wanted to learn more about it. this book tells you everything you need to know and has hundreds of photographs too! and the best thing.. i got it on ebay for less than half price!

recent creations

here are some of my most recent creations. i love making these hootie hats! i love owls! and a tiny amigurumi bar. haven't made any in a long time. you can always see more creations on flickr.. i add pics there more often than here.

i tried to fix the blog for fall/halloween. i guess it looks ok. my sister does a much better job than me. but it'll do.

swaps from amy

i forgot to add these last week. here are our two most recent swaps. my sister amy and i do a monthly craft swap. for july i got all packaging and wrapping supplies. and for this month i got sparkely things. she also sent a few sweet surprises.

FLEA MARKET FINDS

we went to a little flea market today and i found some vintage rhinestone pins. i love cameos..so i had to get that one! my favorite is the butterfly..i love the multi pastel rhinestones. i actually got a fourth pin.. but it is a gift.. so nope you cannot see!

a little drawing

my sister has an apple themed kitchen and she has been saying.. for a few years that she'd like some apple pictures for it. so for the last few years i have been meaning to do them.. but just haven't actually done it. first i wanted to paint them in acrylic. i recently decided..i don't really like acrylic paint.. which is not so good since i bought a bunch of it. so then i thought i'd draw them or water color. well i knew i had paper..somewhere. well yesterday...while looking for something else, i finally found the paper and did this practice apple. i had not picture or actual apple to use. so i did it from memory. it is a gala apple. what do you all think? please be kind.. i haven't drawn in years! it can be found on etsy if you like it.
